• The finality and sufficiency of Christ’s sacrifice was reasserted as Jesus’s words from the cross, “It is finished” (John 19:30), were allowed their full sense. The Mass’s repeated sacrifice of Christ was rejected as wholly unbiblical. • The significance of the celebration of the Lord’s Table on the Lord’s Day (Resurrection Day) was emphasized. Communion was not a funeral, but a recognition of the triumph of the cross. • The Eucharist (“thanksgiving”) was restored in the literal sense of the word.
